The Do-Over

Every Monday I come in to work with a slight hangover. My head hurts and for the first three hours of work I’m noting but a zombie. To relieve myself of the misery I usually grab a greasy burrito and a nice bottle of Gatorade. It takes a while for me to find my groove but I eventually do… around 4 o’clock. (A little late I know.)

I know you maybe asking, “Why does she do this to herself? And just what happens on a Sunday?”

What happens is the Do-Over.

The Do-Over
is the one thing I look forward to every summer. Do you remember when we were kids, how we longed for warm summer days? Do you remember the trips, the time outside and the great three months of no school? I’m pretty sure we all do but now that we are adults there really isn’t a summer for us. The Do-Over, for me at least, fills that summer void.

The Do-Over is one of the best summer parties in Los Angeles. It is often compared to a day party in Las Vegas because it offers an eclectic mix of music and people. But there is nothing phony about this party, just a bunch of real people who enjoy good music, strong drinks and a great vibe.

I’ve been going to the Do-Over for over two years and I always have a great time. What makes it even better this year is that venue, The Cabana Club, is much bigger than last year’s spot and the guest DJs just keep getting better. DJs Craze, Gaslamp Killer, A-Trak and the legendary DJ Quik have all had Angelinos doing their two steps and singing a song at the Do-Over.

Now please, don’t think that one type of music is played the whole time. What’s great about this party is that the DJs play a bit of everything. I mean EVERYTHING From hip hop, rap, jazz, soul, funk, to house, rock and 80s, this party’s got something for err’body!

In addition to the exceptional music selection, the Do-Over serves the best sangria I have ever had. The bottle maybe a little pricey at 30 bones but I assure you that it’s well worth it. I warn you to take it slow with this fruity wine. It is a creeper and you may find yourself next to the toilet in the middle of the night. (I should know.)

Like most good things, The Do-Over ends during the last week of summer. So I highly suggest checking it out. And get there early so you don’t have to wait in that crazy line.

Have fun.
