La Cita bar in LA

La Cita bar, a fun, good and sweaty time for all!

I’m a pretty simple girl. Don’t’ get me wrong, I love getting dolled up as much as the next gal but many times I prefer to be in my favorite jeans rather than a party dress.  I just hate the idea of having to make sure that I still look good at the end of the night when the lights come up. Also, I can’t dance in heels. I just fall and everything turns into a bad comedy.

Why am I embarrassing myself?  Maybe I don’t have to anymore…

I’m a girl who loves a great dive bar. Especially one that serves strong whiskey sours and plays solid music that I can dance to all night. I love nothing more than finding hidden gems like this in Downtown LA (where you don’t have to get dressed to the nines.)

A perfect example of just such a place is La Cita in Downtown Los Angeles.

La Cita LA

Located in the heart of LA’s über -trendy downtown, La Cita is a dirty dive bar that serves what this girl likes: strong drinks. However, they also serve up rather poor ventilation. But if you can get passed that, it’s a place where you’ll have a really good time. Every night is different. So if you aren’t into Reggae Fridays, you can certainly go to, “Dance Right,” Thursdays or catch a punk rock show. Whatever your fancy, La Cita will certainly fill the need.

Unlike most dive bars, La Cita boats a sizeable roseter of notable DJs who’ve made appearances. DJs like A-Trak, Classixx and Dillon Francis have all had the people doing their two steps and spilling their drinks.

Treasure Fingers

I recently stopped by to hear one of my favs, Treasure Fingers. I may have been unproductive at work the next morning but it was well worth the fun and sweaty time I had.

This is a definite must for any true-blooded American slacker.
