The Griffin Bar LA

I recently moved to the small Los Angeles suburb of Atwater Village from Venice Beach. The minute I stepped into the city, I immediately fell in love with the peaceful atmosphere and the abundance of mom and pop shops in the area. It’s a nice little getaway from the busy LA life.

My boyfriend and I were excited to explore a new city but of course we wondered where the nearest bar was. We’re not alcoholics or anything, but we are two people who enjoy having a drink after a long day.

We asked our friends who grew up in the area if they knew of any places and they all recommended “The Griffin.” Luckily for us it was walking distance from our new home.

Inside The Griffin Bar

The minute we walked into The Griffin, we knew this place was different. The inside of the bar is designed like a medieval castle, complete with pillars, chandeliers and medieval artwork. In the middle of the bar are two cozy circular couches with fire places in the center. It’s sort of like walking through King Arthur’s castle minus the flaming arrows and swords.

The Griffin has two happy hours; first from 5-8pm and then again at 11-12am, and great deals for anyone on a budget. I usually order a London Pride or a PBR and a shot of whiskey for six dollars. Not bad, right? Also, every Wednesday night is five dollar wings and beer. Who doesn’t love that combination?

Cheap Drinks!

Unlike many bars that serve peanuts and fried garbage, The Griffin churns out some of the best food I’ve ever had. If it’s your first time I recommend taking a peek at the chalkboard behind the bar for the daily specials. Trust in the wall and you’ll never go wrong.

The Griffin after dark

The Griffin is a great intimate bar for anyone those who want to have a pleasant conversation with friends or just a nice mellow evening after work. Definitely a refreshing change typical L.A. bar scene.
