Rockabilly and electro? Say what?

Summer is nearly over,  but there’s still time to find yourself an end of the summer jam. If you’re like me and you want something different to get your head bobbing your feet tapping, then look no further than Drop the Lime.

Originally from New York, Drop the Lime (born Luca Venezia) is an electronic producer and DJ known for his unique trouble and bass sound. Influenced by doo-wop, house, hip hop and electro, Venezia’s worked with big name dance artist like Armand Van Helden, Robyn and Moby.

His current project takes his trouble and bass sound and infuses his love for rockabilly music. It may sound weird at first, but once you hear the hypnotic bluesy lyrics and the classic dance drops and breaks, you’ll be hooked.

His current hitter is entitled “Hot as Hell,” and includes the great horns and voices of the rockabilly sound as well as the crazy dance beats that everyone has come to expect.

My current favorite of his is “Sex Sax,” where Venezia takes the classic sax sound and melts it into an upbeat and modern sound.
