Middle Class Rut

The journey to fame is often long and winding with no guarantee of success at the end of
the road.

Zack Lopez and Sean Stockham of Middle Class Rut know this all too well but with
their determination, persistence and individual style of music they made it.

Zack and Sean started writing and recording music in the basement Zack’s Sacramento
home when the boys were just teenagers. Their unique sound mixes hard rock with melodic
tones and is described as raw, energized rock n roll. They achieve this sound by immediately
recording the songs after they write them so they can capture the moment of artistry and original
spirit of the track.

After their first band, Leisure, ended in 2003 the music stopped. Zack and Sean both
moved to L.A. where Zack worked construction while Sean was employed as a studio runner.
Not satisfied with the humble beginning and end of their first band, Sean moved back to
Sacramento and Zack commuted up the coast so they could write and rehearse music together.
Eventually Zack made the move back to Sacramento and Middle Class Rut began.
After four hard years of writing and recording original songs Middle Class Rut hit it big
with their single New Low. The cinematic music video was amongst the few music videos now
featured on MTV, and has made its way to the radio. New Low’s lyrics can without a doubt be
assumed to describe the band’s hard beginnings and conveys the “ups and downs” they
experienced on their long journey to stardom.

The recent release of their 12 track album No Name No Color is compiled with songs the
pair has written over the years. Each of the songs conveys the band’s genuine and relatable
nature which they achieved through their domestic and independent start. Middle Class Rut
creates the kind of music that displays their true love of making genuine music, instead of
conforming to the corporate-cookie-cutter template of famous musicians today.
