90s soundtracks

Duh! As if this soundtrack doesn’t rule!

I didn’t get my first CD player until I was in 6th grade but the minute I did I ran to the nearest Sam Goody store to snag my copy of the Clueless soundtrack. I’ll admit that, being as I was 12 years old, Jill Sobule’s “Super Model initially lured me in” but after weeks of the disc being in constant rotation my mind was officially expanded.

This soundtrack solidified by lifelong commitment to 90s alternative music.
In fact, Clueless single-handedly kick-started my obsession with The Muffs as well as introduced me to the glory of both Supergrass and Luscious Jackson.  Clueless is a beautiful example of a quintessential 90s teen movie soundtrack that still holds up 16 years later.

Editor’s note: Remember that part of the movie where Cher is describing how grody all the high school boys are with their skater-chic style and messy bed heads and they are walking in slow motion as World Party’s cover of “All The Young Dudes” is playing” I love that part, those dudes are foxy.
