Callesen's paper cut art works tackle the subjects of life, death and rebirth. He Changes 2-dimension sheets of common paper into amazing 3-dimensional paper sculptures. Some of Peter Callesen works, like Dying swan, deal with dramatic concepts such as humans "trapped in impossible situations and circles, dealing with death, rebirth, self-creation, and self-destruction." Callesen uses the whiteness of the paper for a metaphor "The whiteness, the ideal pure copy of something real as well as the vertical direction coherent in most of my paper works, could also indicate the aspect of something platonic or religious."
